- With the new online feature GameChat, gaming is even more social on Nintendo Switch 2.
Simply press the C button on the Joy-Con 2 (R) controller to start an online session with up to 11 friends. The system has a built-in microphone, so you're all ready to go. You can also share your game screen while chatting. Connect the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (or another compatible USB-C camera) for virtual face-to-face conversations during play!
Up to four people can share their screens in the same GameChat session. Team up in the same game or watch along as your friends play different ones. It's all about hanging out and having a good time.

@@MaisieSqueak For what it's useful for it really isn't a problem. They're showing people helping others do/find stuff in their games, you really don't need a good quality feed for that. Just enough to see what's going on.
Along with multiplayer where everyone is sharing their feed, only yours really matters when it comes to fps.
According to the interview, the developer mentioned they had to run the system processes in a way that wouldn't interfere with the software's performance, so they worked hard to keep the overhead as minimal as possible
of course the chatting stuff will have good performance, there's no affordable games we can get that would need ressources

I hope Nintendo is improving their netcode behind the scenes. As of now, they still can't do online multiplayer very well. Adding streaming video chat to the mix is ambitious for them.
Well keep in mind that the Switch 2 has wi-fi 6 inside, much newer tech than the Switch. Most of us have much faster wi-fi routers than what the Switch can take advantage of.

@@SoundToxin the ethernet port of the original switch was capped at 50 mbps if I'm not mistaken. I haven't seen a single person get above the 40s in the system network test. Let's hope they're not capping anything in Switch 2.

I mean, it’s not like it’s a gaming PC that’s designed for streaming. Honestly voice chat is what matters here. The video and streaming is just extra on the top. Asking a mobile chip to do four streams and run a game at 4K is impressive.
its honestly not super important to me. Its just moving enough for me to help talk a friend where to go and what to do tbh. Maybe it will be less effective in a game like Splatoon, but I'd mostly communicate to my team which part of the map is being painted over via audio.

Setting the prices for the games aside, I genuinely like this feature. The screen sharing is very choppy but it just has a nice charm to it. Same with the camera.

Too much misinformation has been spread about this. Mario kart only costs 80 physically, and does actually have a real physical version. The code thing will be on specific carts and will be labeled. The digital version is 70, it costs more than the average game because donkey Kong is only 60 digitally, and Mario kart is only 50 if you get the bundle
On switch 1, 2 games cost $120+Tax.
On Switch 2, 2 games will most likely cost $140+Tax.
Mario Kart World is the only Switch 2 game we know of that will be $80. Just like how Tears of the Kingdom was $70 on Switch 1.
Still not stoked about paying more money, but it’s not a $20 price difference, it’s only gonna be a $10 price difference probably.

$90 games they are out of their minds $30 upgrades too
Most of their main games will be $70, and the upgrades to Kirby and Mario Party are $20 and add extra content (and they're optional).
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold over 67 million copies, that's more than double what Breath of the Wild sold. Nintendo sees how popular Mario Kart is, so they made a massive world to race around in. That's probably why it's an extra $10 on top of the new normal $70.

Honestly as someone who has a lot of friends in different places this is a great addition, way easier than having to scrounge for everyone's discord ids and stuff. Just hope they beef up the actual netcode a little more for a smoother experience

The best part of this feature is, sure it’s extremely late, but it adds charm to a party / family focused console.
I think the games typically played on a switch will get a huge benefit to this.
Plus being a portable device…and better specs.
